It all began when was 2 months old. He was laying on his side on a pallet in the floor and started choking and gagging really bad. I was in the kitchen and could hear him. I dropped whatever was in my hands and started running towards him. When I picked him up, he began to spit out chucks of milk and by this time I was crying. His face was so red and it never felt better to hear him crying (LOUDLY) than the day he was born. He was always hard to burp and I guess that time I did not do something completely right. Later, we realized he had a congestion issue (due to allergies) and he HAD to sleep elevated at all time or he would gargle and get choked. So, our Baby Daven has always slept in a swing, bouncy seat or elevated bassinet. Yes, he NEVER slept in his crib, thank goodness it transferred into a toddler bed.
Until today he was sleeping in a rocker / reclining chair for children up to 45lbs. Well, I washed it this morning and said goodbye to the chair. Its time for him to sleep in HIS bed. You could just tell he was not comfortable. He will be more comfortable and y'all he has done fabulous. As I was reading him a story and singing to him, he was holding my fingers and I begin to pray for this beautiful little boy. I want him to sleep in his bed, and sleep well. I want to be able to not worry when he is sleeping and know he is resting.
He slept 2 whole hours in his bed without any tears. He woke up with all smiles and came walking into the living room like a big boy to find me. I could not be happier for him. He DID IT!!!!! He is our big 19 month old and Mr. Independent!!! I am so proud of him!!! Keeping fingers crossed for tonight.
